State Offices Close Amid Furloughs, Hollywood DMV Closes for 6 Weeks

With no state budget solution, Governor Arnold Schwarzegger ordered a third furlough day per month. Today is the one of the three for July, meaning most state offices are closed. “Though the legislature failed to solve our budget problem yesterday, rest assured that solving the entire deficit remains my first and only priority, and I will not rest until we get it done," Schwarzenegger said in the order. "I will not be a part of pushing this crisis down the road -- the road stops here."
Meanwhile, the Hollywood DMV location at 803 N. Cole Ave. will close today at noon and reopen in six weeks on August 24th. No, it's not one massive furlough, bur rather a closure to make room for a renovation.
Statewide, all other DMV offices are closed today and the next two Fridays.
