Ready? Say "Awwww!" It's National Puppy Day

Puppies are pretty darn irresistible, but if you were looking for an excuse to enthuse about young pups, look no further, because today happens to be National Puppy Day.
Started in 2006 by the Animal Miracle Foundation, this "awww-liday" is mostly "a day to help save orphaned puppies across the globe and educate the public about the horrors of puppy mills, as well as further our mission for a national of puppy-free pet stores," explains their site. And to celebrate how darn awesome puppies are.
Sadly, there are a few Angelenos who could use a day to think about how special puppies are; over the weekend authorities came to the rescue of a 3-month old puppy that was allegedly put in a trash bag and beaten against a pole. Luckily the dog--christened "Hope"--is going to be okay. A reason to celebrate, for sure!
