Police are seeking a man who kidnapped a 16-year-old South L.A. girl at knifepoint, stuffed her into the trunk of a U-Haul van, and attempted to sexually assault her.

The teen was walking home from Fremont High School when the man abducted her at the corner of Gage and San Pedro, City News Service reports. He took her to two locations where he attempted to sexually assault her. Fortunately, she escaped near the intersection of Vermont and New Hampshire.

Police said the suspect was 5-foot-7, black and between the ages of 20 and 33. He was driving a U-Haul van adorned with the company's markings and a sign stating the sale price of $19.95 on the back doors. Anyone with tips on the suspect or the vehicle was asked to call (877) 527-3247.
