What was thought to have been a possible explosion set off in a parked vehicle in San Pedro this morning had the Los Angeles Police Department on a city-wide tactical alert, reports the Daily News. The bomb squad was called out to the enclosed ground-level parking garage of the Clarion Inn on S. Gaffey to inspect the damaged vehicle, while the "Harbor (110) Freeway's access to San Pedro was closed, and businesses in a two-block radius of the hotel were evacuated." Ultimately experts determined it was a case of vandalism, and not related to explosives or posing a threat to public safety.
