Toddler Fatally Run Over By His Mother in Their Driveway
A toddler was fatally run over by a vehicle backing out of a residential driveway Wednesday night, and the driver was the young boy's mother.
The incident took place last night at the Harbor City home of an unidentified woman, according to City News Service.
The woman was cleaning in the garage and needed to move her car, according to the Daily Breeze. She believed her son was inside the home when she began to back the car out into the driveway.
When the mother realized she'd struck her child, she immediately took the toddler to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Harbor City, where according to authorities he was pronounced dead.
"There is nothing to indicate this is anything more than a tragic accident," Lt. Jim Cummings of the Los Angeles Police Department said.
The LAPD says the woman is not under arrest, however there is an investigation into the boy's death, which is procedure for the sudden death of a child.
