Occupy L.A. Member Arrested After Physical Fight With Security Guard at Pershing Square

A protester affiliated with Occupy L.A. was arrested Thursday for his alleged involvement in a physical spat with a security guard earlier this week that included the suspect biting the man's ear.20-year-old Jose Navarro was arrested today by the Los Angeles Police Department at Pershing Square, which was the scene of the scuffle that left a security guard with a "two-inch gash to his ear that required a half-dozen stitches," according to L.A. Now.
Navarro allegedly became engaged in a spat with a private security guard, during which he is reported to have spat at the guard, and punched him in the face. Other guards were called to the scene, and during an attempt to restrain the Occupy protester, Navarro allegedly bit the security guard with whom he was initially fighting.
The young man broke free and fled.
Prior to his arrest today, Navarro is said to have tried to flee the LAPD once he was spotted and cornered in a nearby parking garage.
