Little Boy and Woman Crossing Street Hit By Suspected DUI Driver
A suspected DUI motorist has been arrested and a little boy remains hospitalized following an incident Thursday night in South Los Angeles.
A young boy, approximately 4-5 years old, was on foot with a 30-35-year-old woman as they crossed Avalon Boulevard at the corner of 80th Street at about 8:15 p.m. when they were struck by an SUV headed north on Avalon, said Sgt. Ruben Vega of the Los Angeles Police Department's South Traffic Division, according to City News Service.
The two pedestrians were taken to the hospital for treatment. The unidentified woman was listed in stable condition, however the little boy was in critical condition.
The SUV driver, an unidentified male in his early to mid-20s, stopped at the scene and spoke to authorities. He was then arrested and booked on suspicion of felony driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, police said.
