In an unusual and unfortuante story, a woman who arrived at police station around midnight to file a domestic violence report died soon after officers gave her a ride home, says the LA Times . After dropping her off at her apartment, near Pico and Cochran in Mid-City, officers stayed outside filling out a crime report inside their patrol car. At the same time, the woman was attacked by the man inside the apartment. Screams were heard and someone ran outside to inform police of the attack. Once inside, officers found the man stabbing the woman and shot him. Both were taken to the hospital where they died. Update: The Times follows up , exploring "how woman under police protection was slain with officers nearby."
