Dead Body Found Near Trail Below Griffith Observatory [UPDATED]

The Los Angeles Fire Department is reporting the discovery of a dead body near the Griffith Observatory. According to an e-mail alert, the body was found this afternoon approximately 60 feet off a trail located below the Observatory. No further information about gender, age, or circumstances has been made available. We will update with more details as soon as they are released.
UPDATE 3:45 PM: Authorities have indicated that the body is that of a male who is thought to have committed suicide, according to City News Service. The death is being investigated by the Los Angeles Police Department.
