A broken-down transit bus crashed through a guard-rail and tumbled 40 feet onto a collector road for the 110 freeway this morning.Fortunately, the bus from Montebello was empty and no one was injured in the 8 a.m. crash, according to City News Service.

The bus was having mechanical problems, and so the driver parked it on a bridge over the 110 freeway in downtown.

Police told CNS that a supervisor from Montebello transit was trying to start the car from the outside. Somehow the brakes became disengaged and the bus crashed through a guard-rail.

The bus tumbled 40 feet onto a collector road parallel to the 110 freeway and landed on its side.

The 3rd Street offramp and collector road were closed while crews cleared the scene.
