Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Big Rig While Walking and Texting
Authorities say that a pedestrian who was struck by a big rig on Tuesday was texting at the time.A big rig hit Daniel Malloy, 34, of Pico Rivera shortly before 8pm on Tuesday, while he was at the intersection of Rosecrans Avenue and Lakewood Boulevard in Downey. Malloy died later from his injuries at a hospital.
Authorities with the coroner's office told City News Service that he was texting when he was struck.
The big rig driver was interviewed, but he wasn't cited or arrested.
