Woman Running Across Lanes of 5 Freeway Fatally Struck by Motorist
A woman attempting to run across lanes of the Golden State (5) Freeway was fatally struck early this morning. The victim, whose name is being withheld pending notification of relatives, was killed on the northbound lanes of the 5 near First Street in Boyle Heights at around 4:50 a.m., reports City News Service.
The motorist who struck the woman "was interviewed, but was not arrested."
The California Highway Patrol closed the northbound side of the freeway at the scene for just over an hour and a half this morning.
It remains unknown why the woman was on foot on the freeway.
