The parents of two children were arrested after deputies pulled them over and discovered that they had locked their kids in the trunk of the car.The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department got a call Sunday night around 10:44 p.m. that someone had spotted a child in the trunk of a black Cadillac at the drive-thru of a Baker's restaurant in Highland, according to the San Bernardino Sun. Deputies spotted them making a U-turn and pulled them over.

Deputies detected a "strong odor of alcohol." The mother April Burgo, 32, of Escondido was driving, the father Richard Burgo, 29, of Wildomar was in the backseat and there was a third man Brandon Rampani, 33, of Escondido along for the ride. Deputies asked April to open and the trunk and she grudgingly obliged, revealing her 6-year-old boy and an 8-year-old girl crying in the trunk.

Deputies have no clue how long the kids were in there. Deputies believe all three were under the influence of alcohol, ABC 7 reported.

The Burgos along with Rampani were arrested and booked on suspicion of cruelty to a child. All three of them posted bail. The Burgos' children were released to a relative.
