Writer/Humorist FRAN LEBOWITZ. A Washington Post critic oncecalled her "The Funniest woman in America." In 1978, shewrote the critically acclaimed book "Metropolitan Life."She followed that with Social Studies, in 1981. Her essaysare also collected in The Fran Lebowitz reader. Mayfield was with the group "The Impressions" for twelveyears, recording such classics as "Gypsy Woman," "People Get Ready" and "I'mso Proud."
