Jurors in St. Francisville, La., have found Sal and Mabel Mangano not guilty of negligent homicide in the deaths of 35 nursing-home patients in their care during Hurricane Katrina.

The Manganos' facility near New Orleans flooded after several levees failed in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

State prosecutors had argued that the couple had been reckless in not evacuating the nursing home. The defense maintained that it was the government that was reckless during Hurricane Katrina.
