New Math In Seattle
-- N-P-R's Claudio Sanchez reports that the Seattle public school system is working on changing the way children learn math. Instead of concentrating on arithmetic for years, children are taught both real applications and some sophisticated mathematics as they go along...second graders learn basic statistics once they've mastered addition and subtraction.
