Police are investigating why some gold and other precious metals are missing from the Royal Canadian Mint. The mint lost the equivalent of $10 million Canadian dollars.

Good morning. I'm Steve Inskeep. The people who keep the Royal Canadian Mint say they keep their gold in an exceptionally secure facility. So maybe officials didn't worry too much when they first found that some of the gold was missing. Now an independent audit has found it's not just an accounting mistake. We do not know who got rich or how, only that the mint lost the equivalent of $10 million Canadian.
