Autumn officially begins Wednesday, Sept. 22. But much of the nation is currently experiencing a mix of seasons, at least according to the thermometer.

It's blistering hot in some regions, but bitter cold has descended elsewhere. And for the areas in between, the seasons seem to change daily. That's what it's like right now in Utah, where NPR's Howard Berkes lives.
