A Change in NPR Pronunciation for Padilla
Occasionally, NPR changes the way we pronounce the name of someone in the news. In the case of alleged terrorist Jose Padilla, NPR had been pronouncing it puh-DILL-uh, and has changed to puh-DEE-yuh. Our librarian discusses the change, along with NPR's overall policy for deciding how to pronounce the names of people, places and things.
