North Hollywood and Koreatown Are Topping DUI Arrests In L.A. This Year

Slow your roll, North Hollywood and Koreatown. Data from the LAPD indicates these two areas have had the most DUI arrests in Los Angeles so far this year.There have been a total of 1,995 DUI arrests, 63 crashes and 17 deaths between January 1 and October 24, The Korea Times reports across L.A. Of these arrests, North Hollywood had 146 of them while the Olympic Division, which includes Koreatown, saw 126—that's a 10 percent increase from last year. There were no DUI-related crashes or deaths in the Olympic division.
If you want to know how the other neighborhoods shape up, Mission division had 122 arrests, Van Nuys had 106 and Devonshire was the lowest with 104.
Back in January, CHP announced that DUI arrests had more than doubled in L.A. County and California during the holidays. At the time, CHP Officer Peter Bishop told the L.A. Times that it was a shocking figure because of how many apps are now available to make you sure you get home safely. In light of last year's holiday DUI arrests, Bishop said future holiday seasons might see increased enforcement.
To avoid being one of these statistics, Angelenos can use a trusted designated driver, L.A. Metro, ridesharing services or Luxe, which will send someone to dive your car home for you.
