No Age Headlines 'Save The Smell' Festival
The last time we checked in on The Smell, the word was that the concert venue would be allowed to stay in the space they've occupied for over a decade... for now.
Still, no one goes scot-free in this day of freewheeling deals and cutthroat rent prices. So it would be grossly naive to say that The Smell is in the clear.
As such, the DIY venue will be hosting Save The Smell Fest! in August to fight the good fight. The show was announced in June, and most of the billing had been revealed in the interim. But it wasn't until the past couple days that the lineup really took shape. Audacity and No Age, who'd been with The Smell for a looong time, will be among the headliners. Other notables include So Many Wizards, Feels, White Fang, and Wyatt Blair. Also listed at the top of the billing is "?????? ??????." We're not entirely sure if that means more acts will be announced, or if that's a band name. Either way, we're ecstatic.
Another matter of note is that the show will not take place at the regular Smell location. It's a festival, which means they'll need more than one stage (in fact, the flyer indicates there'll be two stages), and The Smell can't really accommodate that at their usual spot. Instead, the show will take place at a to-be-named Downtown location. And, per usual, the show will be all ages and likely alcohol-free. The two-day event kicks off on August 6 (a Saturday) at 4 p.m. Pre-sale tickets, for both days, are up right now for $25 a pop. On the event's Facebook page, organizers say that you can contact them via Volunteer@TheSmell.org if you want to be involved with the show in some way.
We reached out to owner Jim Smith to ask for more details. When will the location be announced? Who's "?????? ??????"? We'll post updates from him when we get it.
