A man led police on a pursuit that only ended after he ran into the ocean and stripped naked. His mother was a passenger in his car the entire time.

Officers first attempted to pull the man over for running a red light at Catalina Avenue and Emerald Street in Redondo Beach last night after 10 p.m., KTLA reports. As opposed to pulling over, the driver headed to the beach.

At the beach, the driver crashed his Sedan into a curb near a lifeguard tower south of the pier. He then jumped out of the car and ran into the ocean. Once he was in the water, he began removing all of his clothing.

The man struggled with lifeguards and police who tried to pull him out of the water for about 30 to 40 minutes, and was eventually brought to shore and arrested. He was uninjured. Lifeguards were challenged not only by the man's nudity and combativeness, but also that he weighs about 300 pounds.

He was transported to a nearby hospital, where it was determined he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. His name has not yet been released, but police say he will likely be charged with a hit-and-run.

During all of this, the man's mother was a passenger in his car. She was not hurt when he crashed into the curb.
