Over 750K Travelers Expected at LAX Memorial Day Weekend

Are you headed out of town for Memorial Day weekend? If you're jetting through LAX, you'll be joining more than 750,000 fellow travelers.
This is a 7.4 decrease in LAX travelers from last Memorial Day weekend, according to a travel forecast from airport officials. Higher fuel prices have resulted in higher airfare, so industry experts expected to see slightly fewer air travelers this year.
However, despite the higher fares, overall summer air travelers at LAX should increase slightly to 19.9 million from last year's 19.1 million. Officials attribute the increase to a recovering economy and new air service to overseas destinations.
Memorial Day Weekend begins this Friday, May 25 and kicks off the summer travel season, which continues through Labor Day.
To avoid ticketing counter lines, most domestic air travelers are encouraged to check in to their flights online before arriving to the airport.
