Deputy Mayor for Transportation Jaime de la Vega has his work cut out for him. Today Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa named de la Vega as his nominee for the Department of Transportation, according to CBS2. His first task: Help City Controller Wendy Greuel complete a full on audit of the seriously effed up department.

What's made the LADOT so messy? Well, in recent weeks, there have been a couple of high-profile scandals surrounding the department, including the "Gold Card" parking ticket debacle, and the LADOT employees who did a little moonlighting on the job in an adult film. Oh, and, PS: The LADOT is totally failing to collect all the money they're owed for parking citations.

Villaraigosa said of his selection of de la Vega and his decision to not pick Interim General Manager Amir Sedadi for the post a signal it's "time for a change."

De la Vega's appointment must be approved by the City Council.
