Married Teachers Get Probation For Hot-Tubbing & Having Sex With Underage Male Student

A retired Huntington Beach couple who pled guilty to having sex with a 17-year-old male high school student were sentenced to three years of probation as a part of a plea bargain.The couple Daniel Alma Shepard, 63, and his wife, Gay Davidson-Shepard, 60, were also ordered to do counseling and 60 days of community service, according to City News Service. Had the case gone to trial, Shepard could have faced up to five years and four months in prison and Davidson-Shepard could have faced up to nine years and 10 months in prison.
The couple pleaded guilty to having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old high school student that began in April 2009. The couple apparently invited the student over to play board games and watch movies. They then plied him with alcohol and invited him to soak nude in a hot tub with them. Davidson-Shepard then performed oral sex on the boy and her husband when they got out of the water, prosecutors said during the case. They continued to have an illegal sexual relationship with the boy past his 18th birthday.
Deputy District Attorney Nicole Varner is not happy with the couple's sentence, CNS reports. She wanted to see the pair sent to prison and forced to register as lifetime sex offenders.
Shepard pleaded guilty to two felony counts of oral copulation of a minor, a felony count of sodomy with someone younger than 18 and a misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, CNS reports. Davidson-Shepard pleaded guilty to three felony counts of unlawful sexual intercourse, sodomy with someone younger than 18, oral copulation of a minor and a misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and violating a protective order (for texting and calling the victim against the court's order).
