A 25-year-old man was struck and killed this morning while walking on the 101 downtown.

The man, a Colorado resident whose name has not been released, was walking against traffic on the southbound shoulder near Beaudry Avenue around 2 a.m., City News Service reports. After he was hit by a black Honda Accord, he kept walking on the shoulder while bleeding from his head, before being hit several more times.

Firefighters pronounced the victim dead at the scene. We're not sure yet why he was walking on the freeway.
