A football player for the University of Idaho was shot to death during a party at the Brewery Lofts in Lincoln Heights, according to news reports.Ken McRoyal, 22, was fatally shot in the chest at 1:30 am while he was at a party last night, according to a local ABC affiliate in Idaho KXLY. McRoyal, a wide receiver for the University of Idaho, had been in Los Angeles to visit his 2-year-old daughter, according to his Facebook page. Before transferring to the University of Idaho, he went to school at El Camino Junior College in Torrance.

The University of Idaho released a statement saying that McRoyal had died tragically in Los Angeles without offering details and local police haven't released his name, but news outlets in Idaho (including CBS) have made the connection between the 22-year-old who was reportedly killed at the Brewery Lofts and news of McRoyal's passing. (It's not clear who confirmed the connection in the KXLY story.)

His coach Robb Akey released a statement:

"It's a devastating loss. We've lost a brother, a teammate, a family member. But, more importantly, a momma lost her son today. All of our prayers go to the family - that they can be strong in their healing from this tragedy."

It's not clear what the circumstances of the shooting were, but another man was shot in the arm and survived during the same incident. Police are seeking as many as four suspects involved in the shooting. The Brewery Lofts is the former site of an old Pabst Blue Ribbon brewery, where 300 artists now work and live.
