Man Shoots Girlfriend To Death After Their Baby's Baptism

A man shot his girlfriend to death at a party in Long Beach celebrating the baptism of their third child last night.Witnesses said that they heard Marcos Gustavo Zermeno, 24, arguing with his girlfriend Eleonora Rivera Hidalgo, 22, inside of a car last night, according to City News Service. They heard a gun go off around 10:35 pm and found that Hidalgo had been shot in the upper torso. Hidalgo was rushed to the hospital but she died shortly after she arrived.
Zermeno tried to steal a car to flee the scene, but that didn't work so he hopped a fence outside a mobile home park in North Long Beach. Long Beach police are still looking for Zermeno, whom they consider armed and dangerous, and they believe he may try to flee to Mexico.
Police said that they believe Zermeno is a gang member. He has a tattoo with a collage of skulls and the word "Compton" on his forearm. He has another tattoo on his lower neck with the name of his longtime girlfriend: "Eleonora." He stands at about 5' 6" and weighs about 170 pounds.
The shooting happened after the baptism of their 2-year-old child, according to CBS Los Angeles. The three children that the couple had together aged 2, 5, and 7 are being cared for by other relatives.
