Malibu residents urged to boil water until further notice. City blames Caltrans work
Topline:
Malibu residents are urged to use only boiled or bottled water for drinking and cooking. That includes water provided for pets and livestock.
What we know: City officials said on social media that a “low-pressure event” was a result of a Caltrans bridge replacement project at Solstice Canyon Creek. The affected area is west of Corral Canyon Road and Solstice Canyon Road. Customers in the Trancas and Latigo canyons are not under the notice. LAist has reached out to Caltrans District 7, the city of Malibu and L.A. County for comment.
How do I know my water is safe to drink? Boiling water kills bacteria and organisms in the water. L.A. County Waterworks officials instruct residents to boil all water for one minute, and let the water cool before drinking. Here are details on what to do if you’re unable to boil water.
Resources: Bottled water distribution for affected residents will be available at the Los Angeles County Waterworks District in Malibu at 23533 Civic Center Way until 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Friday.
For more information: You can call Los Angeles County Waterworks District No. 29 at (800) 675-4357. Updates will also be posted at LACWaterworks.org .
