Lovely Weekend Things!

It's the weekend already? LAist throws enthusiastic support in the corner of the 4-day work week, and even though perhaps we didn't work as much this week, we're still going to play this weekend. Here are some things going on around town this lovely weekend.

Friday

LAist loves Grand Performances! Tonight is Algerian-born rai musician Khaled at 8:00 p.m. at the California Plaza.

Take a tour of Chinatown from 10:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 and available by calling the Chinatown Business Improvement District at (213) 680-0243 or by email at info@chinatownla.com.

The annual Lotus Festival gets going today at noon with the opening ceremonies. This year's fest, which is held when the lotus flower is in bloom, honors Korea, and will feature art, entertainment, children's activities, a marketplace, foot, and dragon boat races. Entry to the festival is free. Noon to 9:00 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 8:00 p.m. Sunday in Echo Park.

The Hollywood Bowl has the Sound of Music Sing-a-long tonight, featuring Melissa Peterman and the von Trapp children. Pre-show at 6:00 p.m., movie at 8:00. Tickets available through the Hollywood Bowl: (323) 850-2000. SOLD OUT. LAist should know better than to procrastinate. Curses!

It's Beatrix Potter Day at the Huntington. Stuff for kids and fans of the darling little bunnies 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 1151 Oxford Road, San Marino, (626) 405-2100

Grand Perfomances has the second night of Hula Dancing with Na Lei Hulu I Ka Wekieu, downtown at the California Plaza for free, 8:00 p.m.
