LA Welcomes The Winter Solstice With Wet Weekend Weather

Saturday marks the official start of winter, and Los Angeles weather will get frightful (or maybe just inconvenient) soon after with rain and possibly snow on tap for Sunday, plus another cold storm system slated to roll in late Christmas Day, according to forecasters.
National Weather Service officials say an "unsettled weather pattern" (basically when pressure system conditions in the atmosphere make it ripe for rain) is expected to arrive Sunday, bringing up to an inch of rain overnight.

Lingering showers could last through Wednesday and the rainy conditions also bring the chance of snow in the mountains, forecasters said.
If you need last-minute gift inspiration, an umbrella or new wiper blades would be excellent stocking-stuffers, since a "more organized storm system" is forecast for Christmas Day and into Dec. 26.
NWS officials haven't said how much rain to expect with that storm yet, but warn it will likely more snow and impact travel through the Grapevine.
