Los Alamitos Mayor Resigns after Sending Racist Obama E-mail
A watermelon is only a watermelon until you depict it in the front lawn of the nation's most power man, who happens to black. "No Easter Egg hunt this year," read the subject line of an e-mail with this photo attached. It was sent by Dean Grose, the mayor of Los Alamitos, a small city of 12,000 people east of Long Beach. "I think he's saying that since there's a black president, there will be no need to hunt for eggs since they're growing watermelons in the front yard this year," said Keyanus Price, an African American who was among those receiving the email, to the OC Register. Grose today said he will resign saying that he "accepts that the e-mail was in poor taste and has affected his ability to lead the city," according to CBS2.
