Look Who's Cooking: Chef Laurent Quenioux to Pop Up at Starry Kitchen

The fun and food loving Nguyen and Thi Tran of Downtown's mostly-lunch Starry Kitchen have announced an upcoming pop-up dining event, in which their restaurant will play host to the culinary talents of Chef Laurent Quenioux. The LQ@SK event begins June 5th for a limited engagement, and will offer two nightly seatings for a $45 prix fixe menu.
The SK team explains that a chance meeting with Quenioux first connected the two culinary forces, and, now that Quenioux's Bistro LQ is no more, now was the time to join up for some foodventures.
A "test-run" held over the past few days has helped Quenioux and the Trans get ready for the LQ@SK pop-up, and led to the perfection of the dishes you'll find on the pop-up menu, like the LQ "signature dish" of Teriyaki Rabbit Albondigas + Teriyaki Foie Gras, and the LQ Boudin Noir (w/ apple compote, mashed potatoes and mustard tapioca), the latter of which Starry Kitchen patrons can order up at lunchtime in the days preceding the June 5th pop-up start.
Here are the specs of LQ@SK: Dinners will be held on Jun 5-7, 13-14, and 19-20, with more nights to be added later; the run is anticipated to last 3-6 months. There are two seatings per night (1st - 6:30p / 2nd - 8:30p). Reservations must be made through the LQ site, and will be taken on a first-come, first-served basis, and are set only when a confirmation email is received by the customer. Menu items will change at Chef Quenioux's discretion, and, notes the SK team: "No exceptions, no substitutions, and please… No cry babies."
As Editor-in-Chief of our newsroom, I’m extremely proud of the work our top-notch journalists are doing here at LAist. We’re doing more hard-hitting watchdog journalism than ever before — powerful reporting on the economy, elections, climate and the homelessness crisis that is making a difference in your lives. At the same time, it’s never been more difficult to maintain a paywall-free, independent news source that informs, inspires, and engages everyone.
Simply put, we cannot do this essential work without your help. Federal funding for public media has been clawed back by Congress and that means LAist has lost $3.4 million in federal funding over the next two years. So we’re asking for your help. LAist has been there for you and we’re asking you to be here for us.
We rely on donations from readers like you to stay independent, which keeps our nonprofit newsroom strong and accountable to you.
No matter where you stand on the political spectrum, press freedom is at the core of keeping our nation free and fair. And as the landscape of free press changes, LAist will remain a voice you know and trust, but the amount of reader support we receive will help determine how strong of a newsroom we are going forward to cover the important news from our community.
Please take action today to support your trusted source for local news with a donation that makes sense for your budget.
Thank you for your generous support and believing in independent news.
