A new video has emerged, and appears to show a Venice Beach lifeguard dumping a bucket of water on
a group of alleged attackers moments before an intense fight broke out between all of them.

Harutiun Balyan, 30, Ara Sarkisyan, 28, and Arusiak Gekchyan, 28, were arrested last week after a video surfaced of the trio allegedly attacking a Venice Beach lifeguard. A new video obtained by the L.A. Times—which can be viewed here—appears to show the minutes leading up to the fight. It shows the lifeguard in his tower, exchanging heated words with some people down below. At one point, one of the men attempts to climb the ladder up into the tower, but he is pulled down by another person. The lifeguard then goes into his tower briefly, then comes back out and the yelling continues. The lifeguard then picks up a bucket of water and dumps it on the woman and one of the men standing below.

L.A. County lifeguard Cpt. Kenichi Haskett told the Times that the lifeguard went into the tower to call for help, and that "in his personal opinion," he probably dumped the water on them to "cool them down." However, Haskett noted he was not "speaking for the department" with that opinion.

The woman who recorded the video, Meagan Shupert, said she thought it was kind of funny. "They were arguing, they were trying to climb up, so he just came out and poured water on them." She did note that she'd be "pissed" if someone dumped water on her.

Other witnesses said the trio appeared to be drunk. It was after the water pouring that the lifeguard hopped down from his tower and was immediately attacked. The lifeguard is currently on paid leave after injuring his hand in the fight.

Here's the first video of the fight.
