‘LAUSD Is Reopening. Can I Keep My Teacher?’ Your Reopening Questions, Answered
The Los Angeles Unified School District will welcome its youngest students back to campuses starting in about two weeks. Older students can return to classrooms in about a month.
For parents and students, the return-to-school plan raises a ton of questions:
- Will LAUSD students be able to keep their current teachers, or will their classes have to break up?
- Why can’t LAUSD middle- and high schoolers follow a more normal schedule?
- Will playgrounds be open? What about lunch tables? Can parents volunteer?
- And the big what-if: What happens if there’s a case of COVID-19 on campus?
If you’re looking for answers, you’ve come to the right place.
I’ve created a long, long list of LAUSD reopening questions, ranging from the most basic to the highly-specific — and done my best to give you the answers I know so far.
We’ll keep this list of answers updated as LAUSD campuses prepare to reopen over the next month. The information is bound to change.
If there’s a question I haven’t addressed, please get in touch with me by email, by direct message on Twitter, or via the question box at the bottom of the post.
