She's 21 years old, she calls Sherman Oaks home, she's a model, and says she's nutty about the history of British monarchy and a big "Star Wars" fan. She's Alyssa Campanella, and while until last night she was merely Miss California, she's now been crowned Miss USA.

Backstage at the Las Vegas pageant, Campanella reportedly amused herself by playing Angry Birds on her iPad. After the gown and bikini portions, Campanella was named a finalist, and took on a question about legalizing marijuana. Her thoughts? Campanella said "she didn't think it should be fully legalized as a solution to help ailing economies," summarized the Daily News.

Campanella, however, isn't a native Californian, though she won the title of Miss California in 2010. She was born and raised in New Jersey; she was a runner-up for Miss Teen USA in 2007 as Miss Teen New Jersey. This fall, Campanella will head to Brazil to compete for the title of Miss Universe.
