Our June member drive is live: protect this resource!
Right now, we need your help during our short June member drive to keep the local news you read here every day going. This has been a challenging year, but with your help, we can get one step closer to closing our budget gap. Today, put a dollar value on the trustworthy reporting you rely on all year long. We can't hold those in power accountable and uplift voices from the community without your partnership.

We're looking for enthusiastic interns to work with us at LAist during the spring. The hours are flexible, but we do want someone who will be able to commit 8-10 hours a week to the site. We may work together for a portion of the time, but you will often be working out of the comfort of your own home/dorm room/coffee shop—or out in the field.

Interns assist editors with compiling and researching posts, fact-checking and photo editing. Ideally, you'll be creating your own posts for the site. Assignments can fall into all the categories on the site: News, Arts & Entertainment and Food. There is no pay, but we can offer college credit, and there are also opportunities to attend events to cover for the site.

Anyone with a passion for Los Angeles and the skills to write about it is encouraged to drop us a line. We're looking for highly-motivated and detail-oriented interns. Strong writing and communication skills are vital, while familiarity with blogging protocol and Google apps is extremely helpful. If you have special expertise in photography, videography or social media, we'd love to hear from you, too.

Interns will come away with published items for their portfolios, insight into digital journalism practices, social media strategy, and, if applicable, college credit.
