LAist Interview with Trishelle of The Real World

Congress has cut federal funding for public media — a $3.4 million loss for LAist. We count on readers like you to protect our nonprofit newsroom. Become a monthly member and sustain local journalism.

Trishelle Cannatella is our favorite Real World cast member even though we just discovered her last name. Yes we love her even moreso than Puck, but that's probably because even through the tv screen we can tell that if we met him he would probably reek and snort a nose rocket at us, whereas Trishelle would probably stumble into our arms and give us a real sweet hug.

We loved her in the Surreal Life, we loved her in Fear Factor, we loved her in Playboy, we loved her in Stuff, we loved her in the Lingerie Bowl, and we are loving her in the new Real World Vegas where they brought everyone back to the suite of the crime(s).

And we plan on loving her in the movie Ninja Cheerleaders where she seems to play a cheerleader, stripper, crime fighter of some sort. Who knows, who cares, it stars Trishelle and George Takei who we love too, so how bad could it really be. OK, don't answer that.

Anyways, when our pal Shabooty told us that he had scored an interview with Trishelle as she is begining to do publicity for the film, as well as for Real World, we asked him if we could post half on LAist and half on his site. And because he rules, he said mais oui, which is French for Anything for LAist.

Shabooty for LAist: What made you apply for your initial stint on the Real World?

Trishelle Cannatella: I was actually at a club and some MTV people were doing some open casting calls. I didnt know it at the time, but a really hot guy who I had been talking to that night at the club actually worked for MTV and he was the one that brought auditioning to my attention. It was my friends though that actually convinced me to go for it.

What was on your audition tape?

Lol Me...actually I just talked about myself and showed some things I did on a typical weekend

If I was the show's producer, what one characteristic do you think would help me easily pick you to be on the show (aside from being easy on the eyes)?

My dorkiness....yes definitely my dorkiness. People always think Im really laid back, cool, and a crazy partier (not that I'm denying it) but they dont really know what a HUGE dork I am. Its always surprising to people.

This might be an asshole question but --how many Real Worlders have you jumped in the sack with?

EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM!!!!. No actually ummm....its not as many as people like to think. Honestly theres been Stephen (of course) and 2 others.

Are you into chicks?

HAHA I cant believe i still get asked this question. No I'm not into chicks...sorry

What projects are upcoming - I know you're in Ninja Cheerleaders?

I have a new bar in Santa Monica, Im working on my real estate license, I am about to do a photoshoot for an upcoming magazine, I am starting promos for the new season of VIP Passport, and of course Ninja Cheerleaders is coming out this summer.

What are your thoughts on Paris Hilton and this whole jail debacle?

Support for LAist comes from

I think its hilarious. I was so amused to hear that SHE of all people couldn't get out of jail time. But nothing made me laugh more than finding out that she's spending her time in jail "soul searching" and reading the bible.

Have you ever been arrested?

never

What celebs have you met or worked with that left you star-struck?

hmmm wow theres been a few but the biggest has to be meeting George Clooney

Is it weird when you're on a reality show and they cut you off to the outside world (I.e. no media /news) etc...

lol...its really weird because what they dont show is how much down time we have and how bored we get sometimes. Thats how all the drama gets started in the house.

Have you dated any actors/celebs and if so has it been a different experience?

Support for LAist comes from

I have dated some actors and a few B-C list celebs, but no one big enough to mention. Its definitley a different experience in good ways and bad.

Has Pauly Shore hit on you yet?

Oh GOD No.

Did you expect to go on Real World and use it as a springboard into your career today?

Well I never expected to even make it, but after the show finished and I did a couple [Real World/Road Rules] challenges, I quickly learned that was not what I wanted to be doing with my life. I realized that I kind of needed to use the show as a jumpstart for bigger things.

Are you still a party girl today -or have you slowed down?

I have definitely slowed down but I do live in LA and its almost impossible to not party here, so yeah I party but just not the same way I use to.
