LAFD on High Alert for Holiday Weekend of Scorching Heat and Rampant Fireworks

With temperatures expected to reach the 90s and 100s across the region, Los Angeles firefighters are prepared for a high risk of wildfires over the celebratory Fourth of July weekend.

Extra firefighters will be on the job this weekend in Santa Clarita and San Dimas and other areas where dry brush is at high risk.

Fireworks are illegal in L.A., the fire department reminds us but we all know that's not going to stop July 4th revelers from firing off their own.

Instead, LAFD and LAPD recommend attending a public fireworks show near you. Perhaps one listed here:
