How To Watch The LA Marathon And A Map Of Road Closures To Plan For

The 39th L.A Marathon kicks off this weekend with extra festivities for St. Patrick's Day. Whether you're a participant or supporter, this guide is for you.
Race Schedule And Other Events
Thousands of people will participate in several races that make up L.A.'s Marathon weekend.
On Saturday, the LA Big 5K race kicks off at 8 a.m. with the course taking runners and walkers alike from Dodger Stadium through Elysian Park. At 9:45 a.m., future marathoners ages 3 to 8 will run a 1/4 mile during the LA Kids, also starting at Dodger Stadium.
Registration for both races is closed, but if you want to cheer folks on, head to the stadium or pick a spot along the course.
And be sure to check out the Lifestyle Expo on March 15 and 16 at Dodger Stadium, Lot G. Visit various vendors, listen to music, and grab a bite to eat. Friday hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on Saturday hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
On Sunday, the 26.2-mile long marathon starts at Dodger Stadium at 6:30 a.m. This year's race will wind through Echo Park, Silver Lake, Hollywood then West through West Hollywood and Beverly Hills towards the finish line at Santa Monica Blvd in Century City.
How to get there, how to watch
Parking at Dodger Stadium opens at 3 a.m. Sunday. Parking is free near the Start Line. Shuttle services are free and available from Union Station to the start line and from the Finish line back.
Throughout the course there will be several entertainment hubs with DJ sets, live bands, and dancers. You can check here for a full list of the entertainment stops.
Fittingly, there'll be a festival at the finish line in Century Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Road Closures
From 3 a.m. to 5 p.m. this weekend certain roads and highways will be closed for the marathon.
Major streets closed starting from the east heading west are: Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood Boulevard, Santa Monica Boulevard, and Wilshire Boulevard. Here's a complete list of scheduled street closures.
Some freeway ramps along the 101 Freeway and the 405 Freeway will also be closed and you can find them here.
And finally, some roads will be Local Access only for residents in Beverly Hills, West Hollywood, Elysian Park, Echo Park, Silverlake, Downtown LA and West LA. Here's a full list.
