Kwame traded to Grizzlies for Gasol

Our June member drive is live: protect this resource!
Right now, we need your help during our short June member drive to keep the local news you read here every day going. This has been a challenging year, but with your help, we can get one step closer to closing our budget gap. Today, put a dollar value on the trustworthy reporting you rely on all year long. We can't hold those in power accountable and uplift voices from the community without your partnership.

The LA Times has just confirmed the rumor that the 9 million dollar statue of Kwame Brown has just been traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, along with 2007 first round draft pick Javaris Crittenton and 2008 and 2010 first round picks. In exchange, the Lakers are picking up the way more competent Pau Gasol. This could do a lot to energize the Lakers, who lost the first of their nine games on the road last night by ONE POINT after rallying back from a 17-point deficit.

BTW, that is a traditional catalonion "caganer" of Spanish import Pau Gasol. Caganers are statues of folks pooping that you place in the nativity with the rest of the holy family to drive home the lesson that all people are equal: everyone poops. It is in no way meant to imply that Pau Gasol is a lousy player-he's been averaging 18 ppg and 8.8 rebounds. The Lakers play tonight in Toronto.
