FULLERTON — A 52-year-old woman apparently bent on suicide jumped off the top of a Cal State Fullerton parking structure today and was pronounced dead at the scene, university officials said.

The woman — who was not a student, teacher or staff member at the university — apparently jumped of her own volition from the sixth level of the parking structure about 11 a.m., Cal State Fullerton spokeswoman Paula Selleck said.

The parking structure is off State College Boulevard between Nutwood Avenue and Yorba Linda Boulevard, and the woman was found near Gymnasium Drive, Selleck said.

The woman, whose name was withheld, used to live in Covina but more recently had been staying with her parents in Fullerton near the campus, Selleck said.

Right now, LAist has lost $1.7M in annual funding due to Congress clawing back money already approved. The support we receive from readers like you will determine how fully our newsroom can continue informing, serving, and strengthening Southern California.
