Walnut Park apartment building catches fire; 2 families displaced
A fire broke out at an apartment building in Walnut Park early today, displacing two families, authorities said.
The fire was reported at 12:43 a.m. near Santa Ana Street and Santa Fe Avenue, said Los Angeles County Fire Supervisor Andre Gougis. Firefighters arrived five minutes later and extinguished the blaze in 10 minutes, Gougis said.
No injuries were reported, but the fire damaged living quarters, and the Red Cross was called out to assist two families, Gougis said.
An investigation was under way to determine the cause of the fire.
