Animal trailer overturns on 210 Freeway, pregnant cows rescued
Update 6:27 p.m.: Pregnant cow euthanized
One of the pregnant cows that was rescued from the crash and was transferred to the West Valley Animal Shelter has died. The cow suffered a broken leg and was euthanized Wednesday afternoon, Gentle Barn co-founder Jay Weiner told KPCC.

A truck pulling a trailer full of farm animals crashed on the westbound 210 freeway in the northern area of the San Fernando Valley on Wednesday.
Los Angeles firefighters were called on the scene shortly before 11 a.m., spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
Humphrey said the truck driver experienced serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital where he is being treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident happened on the Hubbard street on-ramp. NBC 4 LA reports that the truck suffered damage on its right front tire, which lead to the crash.
Up to two cows and three sheep were in the the trailer that was turned on its side near the mangled truck in Sylmar, officials said.
"In the trailer were two pregnant cows and three sheep as well as a dog. We’re pleased to report that the dog is uninjured and sheep are ok,” said Humphrey.
The Gentle Barn Foundation is animal sanctuary for rescued animals.
Kevin Oaks, press agent for the foundation told, KPCC that the Gentle Barn transferred five animals to The West Valley Animal Shelter in Chatsworth for medical evaluation.
He was not able to comment on the future of the rescued animals.
