Update 5:17 p.m.: 3 lanes open after honey spill shuts 605
Three lanes of the 605 freeway are open after today's honey spill on the 605 freeway. California Highway Patrol tells KPCC the final two northbound lanes of the freeway will open shortly.
Transition roads onto the northbound 605 Freeway from the eastbound and westbound 60 freeway remain closed.
Officer Miguel Louevano says the CHP isn't sure what caused the rig to overturn, covering the freeway with about 1,000 gallons of honey and diesel fuel. He says investigators are questioning the drivers.
No other vehicles were involved, Louevano says. Nobody was injured.
3:22 p.m.: 605 freeway traffic stalls as 42K pounds of honey spills from overturned big rig
Drivers on the northbound 605 freeway found themselves stuck after an overturned big rig spilled 42,000 lbs of honey onto the asphalt Monday.
The accident took place just north of the 605 freeway's intersection with the 60 freeway near El Monte. The California Highway Patrol reports that northbound HOV, lanes one and two are now open but all other lanes remain closed on the 605. East and westbound ramps from the 60 freeway to the 605 are also closed.
There's no word on any injuries. California Highway Patrol is at the scene.
