Sunday's Pasadena half marathon to bring rock, roll, road closures
The 2nd annual Pasadena 'Rock & Roll' half-marathon takes place early Sunday. The half-day event will feature a 13.1 mile racecourse lined with music and cheering crowds and will probably bring a good deal of traffic frustration.
The race begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Rose Bowl and runs through Old Town and across Caltech's campus before doubling back and looping around the Brookside Golf Course. Expect portions of Arroyo and Colorado Bouldevards — along with a number of others — to be closed off until around noon.

Organizers say the streets will resemble more of a block party than a racecourse, with local bands playing along the route and a concert finale at its end (also at the Rose Bowl.) Headlining the show will be Koreatown-bred electro-pop group "The Far East Movement."
All benefits from the race will go to CureMito, a nonprofit devoted to raising awareness and funds toward curing mitochondrial disease.
