State Extends Deadline To Apply To Redistricting Panel

In recent months, the state has been accepting applications from regular Californians to join a commission that redraws voting maps. But the applicant pool has been disproportionately white and male.

State officials recognize that the applicant pool could be more diverse. So they are pushing back the application deadline for the redistricting commission by 10 days to August 19.
