Update: San Dimas brush fire 65 percent contained
Updated 10:31 a.m.: Crews fighting the brush fire burning in San Dimas have increased containment to 65 percent, according to the L.A. County Fire Department.
The fire has scorched 8.6 acres, but a fire official told KPCC earlier he expected the fire to be fully contained within a couple of hours.
Updated 7:40 a.m.: Ground crews and six helicopters were trying early Wednesday to douse a brush fire burning in San Dimas.
Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Keith Mora told KPCC that winds have been light, helping firefighters hold the fire so far to just 5 acres.
"I don't see any active flame, although it doesn't mean the fire is completely out. We haven't called knockdown, meaning that we're going to make sure that everything is completely out. But from this vantage point, it looks really good. I'm real optimistic that we're going to get a hold of this in the next couple hours," Mora said.
No homes are threatened, according to Mora. The nearest home is a quarter mile away.
The fire was first reported at 4 a.m.
