SANTA CLARITA — A 19-year-old Saugus man was arrested today by detectives at a gym parking lot where several vehicles break-ins had occured in recent weeks.

Several LA Fitness clubs in the area had been similarly hit, and detectives were watching over one of the lots at Newhall Ranch Road and Aurora Drive when they saw the suspect break into a parked vehicle and steal property, said Sgt. Darren Harris of the Santa Clarita Sheriff's Station.

The man, whose name was withheld, was apprehended just before 11 a.m., Harris said.

A warrant was subsequently served at the suspect's home, where evidence allegedly tying him to similar vehicle break-ins was found, the sergeant said.

The man's car was also impounded, he said. A second suspect, a juvenile, was later taken into custody, Harris said.

The older suspect was being held on $150,000 bail.
