Post Office starts holiday schedule; what are the deadlines for Christmas delivery?
The post office kicked off its special holiday shipping season Monday with a plan to deliver packages every day of the week — including Sundays.
The special service will be offered in major cities and high volume areas, according to a statement from the U.S. Postal Service.
The move comes in response to double-digit growth in packages as more consumers shop online and have their orders shipped. The post office says it anticipates a 12 percent increase in the number of packages it will deliver this season compared to last. That equates to 450 to 470 million packages.
If you want your package to reach its destination by the time, be sure to get it in the mail by the following deadlines:
| Date | Mail Type |
|---|---|
| Dec. 2 | First-Class Mail International/Priority Mail International |
| Dec. 10 | Priority Mail Express International |
| Dec. 15 | Standard Post |
| Dec. 17 | Global Express Guaranteed |
| Dec. 20 | First-Class Mail/Priority Mail (domestic) |
| Dec. 23 | Priority Mail Express (domestic) |
